The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) draft is a yearly selection of WNBA basketball teams from a pool of talented college and professional women’s basketball players. This year, the WNBA Draft 2010 was held today, April 8, 2010. The first round was broadcasted on ESPN2 while the succeeding rounds were broadcasted in NBA TV and ESPNU.
Each of the 12 teams in the WNBA get a pick in each of the rounds for the 2010 WNBA Draft and is then at liberty to trade those picks. The Minnesota Lynx were to draft second and third through trades and they managed to get 2 excellent players.
The second overall pick gained them Virginia’s Monica Wright, while the third pick gained them Kelsey Griffin from Nebraska. Tina Charles will be teamed up with an old friend as Connecticut Sun also got Renee Montgomery who played with her at the University of Connecticut. WNBA Draft was today for the 2010 picks. Bringing in some of the best talent in the country, the top ladies of the league are going to be heading to the Connecticut Sun and the Minnesota Lynx.
