Dan Duncan is Houston Billionaire Richest Man Dies

Dan L. Duncan January 2, 1933 – March 28, 2010 was an American businessman born in Center, Texas. He was the co-founder, chairman and majority shareholder of Enterprise Products. Duncan donated 75 million dollars to Texas Children's Hospital and the Houston Museum of Natural Science, as well as $135 million dollars to Baylor College of Medicine. Duncan donated a sculpture by Jean Dubuffet named "Monument au Fantóme", which was at first situated in front of 1100 Louisiana street, an office building in Downtown Houston. It now resides in Discovery Green Park near the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Dan Duncan is Dead – Dan Duncan Dies at 77 – Dan L. Duncan, the chairman of Enterprise Products Partners LP, is no more. Dan Duncan died Sunday night at his home, the company said. Dan Duncan was 77 when he died but there is official confirmation on the cause of his death, but according to few reliable sources, Dan Duncan is dead now. Duncan is survived by his wife Jan, four children and four grandchildren.

Duncan was the founder of Enterprise Products Partners LP. Enterprise Products, Duncan Energy Partners LP and Enterprise GP Holdings LP issued a statement Monday saying Duncan would be missed. Duncan co-founded the company in 1968 and took it public 30 years later. The company said it did not plan to change ownership or management of the partnerships.

Leaders of Houston-based Enterprise Products, Enterprise GP Holdings LP and Duncan Energy Partners LP will stay in their current roles, the partnership said Monday in a statement. Enterprise Products is the largest U.S. pipeline partnership by market value, and Mr. Duncan was the richest man in Houston.

Mr. Duncan formed Enterprise Products Co. in 1968 with $10,000 and two trucks, according to a company biography. Enterprise Products Partners owns almost 48,000 miles 77,000 kilometre of pipelines. Mr. Duncan's Enterprise GP Holdings owns the general partner that controls Enterprise Products.
