Maya Moore Becomes Third Two-Time State Farm Wade Winner

Maya Moore was one of 10 members of the WBCA AllStar Team announced Saturday and was selected for this national honor over teammate Tina Charles.

Maya Moore was born on June 11, 1989 in Jefferson City, Missouri. She is the daughter of Mike Dabney, a guard on the Rutgers University men’s basketbal

l team that reached the Final Four in 1976, and Kathryn Moore. Moore had her first exposure to basketball at the age of three. Her mother mounted a hoop on the back door of their apartment to prevent her from running around the apartment.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced that University of Connecticut junior Maya Moore has been named The State Farm Wade Trophy Player of the Year for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division . The WBCA presents this award,

Melissa Jones’ three-point play cut the deficit to five, UConn scored 12 straight points with Charles and Moore combining for 10 of them. Moore was hitting shots from everywhere. She connected on 3-pointers, layups, and even a floating jumper down the lane.

It has truly been a pleasure to watch Maya develop over the past few years, and I am thrilled to present Maya Moore with the 2010 State Farm Wade Trophy once again,” said WBCA CEO Beth Bass. “Maya embodies the ideals of the awards namesake, Lily Margaret Wade, and after her tremendous hardwood play this season there is no one more deserving of this honor.”
